Newcastle United could only manage a 1-1 draw with Watford yesterday in the Premier League, but it was a good day for Paul Dummett, who returned to play for the first time this season.
The 30-year-old was named as a starter by Eddie Howe against the Hornets.
Dummett has had trouble with a calf problem he picked up in pre-season.
The star admitted he thought he would only be out for a few weeks (via Northern Echo).
But he suffered a couple of setbacks, and it has ultimately taken around half a year for him to get back to full fitness.
Things have obviously changed quite a lot since Dummett last played before the game with Watford on Saturday.
The takeover has been cause for much excitement, and the new owners have set to work behind the scenes.
One thing that has not changed though, is the unwavering support from the fans at St. James’ Park.
Dummett has reflected that with his latest tweet this evening.
He wrote: “What a feeling being back out at St James Park. Lots more hard work needed.”
Of course, while Dummett has been sidelined, Newcastle have been awful defensively.
The only club to concede fewer goals is Norwich City, and Newcastle have kept just the one clean sheet all season in the Premier League.
The hope is that at least a couple new central defenders will join the club before the transfer window closes.
But the return of Dummett could well be quite important for Eddie Howe.

Paul Dummett being available for selection again is good news.
Last season, the £35,000-a-week star (Spotrac) played a big part in Newcastle ultimately surviving with relative ease.
He was dependable, and he may well be able to have a say again this year.
He obviously has experience of fighting relegation, so him staying fit from this points onwards is quite important.
One thing is for sure. If called upon, he is someone that will give his all for the badge.
