It is worth remembering that Newcastle United have a clutch of brilliant players in their squad.
Indeed, the start of the season may have been seriously underwhelming – and sometimes quite alarming – for Newcastle after a dreadful summer transfer window but Eddie Howe still boasts some truly top talent.
The likes of Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes are surely the envy of most other clubs around the world, given their frequent links with a move away.
Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall represent exciting young and English options at full-back, while Sven Botman was excellent in his first season before injury in his second year.
Nick Pope, meanwhile, has been hailed as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and Sandro Tonali was a Serie A title-winner not long ago.
At some point, a squad of that quality surely has to click into gear.
Interestingly, of all the good players currently plying their trade at St James’ Park, former Toon hero Papiss Cisse has been speaking of one he particularly enjoys watching.
Papiss Cisse sends Alexander Isak message at Newcastle
Cisse hailed Isak despite the striker’s patchy form when speaking to Sky Sports News.

“I like how he plays, how he’s controlling himself if he gets inside the box,” he said.
“Technically he is very good. Amazing. When he gets the ball inside the box, I’m confident because I know he loves this moment inside the box. He’s so patient and his finishing is amazing.
“I hope he’s going to score a lot of goals for Newcastle.”
Why Alexander Isak is not scoring goals for Newcastle
A wonderfully gifted and mightily prolific striker at his very best, this season has been a struggle for Isak.
He looked way off the pace against Brighton last time out and has scored only once all season.
Speaking on Friday, Howe suggested why that may be the case.
Indeed, the Newcastle United manager claimed a couple of fitness issues has robbed the Sweden star of his very best form, though expressed confidence he would soon turn that around.
Isak’s quality cannot be doubted. Hopefully, he gets back up to speed again soon – Newcastle need him.
