Former Newcastle United left-back Olivier Bernard is excited to see what new signing Yankuba Minteh will bring to the side in the future.
Newcastle‘s first signing this summer was Yankuba Minteh from Danish side Odense Boldklub. The 18-year-old is one for the future and as such has already joined Eredivisie side Feyenoord on a season-long loan to further his development.
One man who can’t wait to see what he can do for Newcastle is former left-back Olivier Bernard who has likened Minteh to Jacob Murphy in the way he plays.
Bernard says Wilson will love playing alongside Minteh
Speaking on BBC Radio Newcastle (via The Chronicle) the Frenchman said: “He is a player who is quite rapid. He is the kind of player, I would put him with, which is Murphy at the minute.
“You know, desire, pace, not afraid to get in behind. He is the kind of player you want to play with, especially when you are a centre forward. Wilson will love that.“

It’s obviously going to be a while before we see Callum Wilson link up with Minteh given his season-long loan but it’s certainly something to look forward to, if Wilson is still around when Minteh breaks into the first team.
Newcastle fans will be keeping an eye on his progress at Feyenoord
If Minteh trains as hard as Jacob Murphy and develops a better final product – not digging at Murphy too much here as he was phenomenal towards the end of last season but there was a long time of mediocrity before that – we could have a superb player on our hands.

Minteh’s £6million move to Newcastle was a record fee received for Odense which hints at his quality.
I’m sure many Newcastle fans will be keeping an eye on the Eredivisie next season to see how he’s getting on, as will Peter Ramage who is Newcastle’s loans manager.
