Newcastle United were embarrassed by AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.
The result came as a complete shock to the system for Newcastle fans who had seen their side comfortably win the last nine games in all competitions.
Newcastle’s defeat to Bournemouth was a sign that Eddie Howe’s men cannot get complacent and that European football is still by no means a certainty. The loss meant that Newcastle fell to sixth in the Premier League table despite having the opportunity to move up to third with a win.

The Magpies have the chance to avenge their defeat when they visit Southampton on Saturday. Howe will be eager to set the record straight and show fans that the loss against his former club was a mere bump in the road.
After the defeat, Dan Burn admitted a slow start hindered Newcastle who conceded more than one goal for the first time since their loss to Brentford in December.
A few days after the loss, Tino Livramento opened up on the loss and has now made a promise to the Newcastle fans who were left disappointed.

Livramento played the full 90 minutes in the Bournemouth loss but struggled to contain the likes of Newcastle target Antoine Semenyo and Justin Kluivert; who scored a hat-trick.
Semenyo knew he could “catch out” Newcastle’s defence. He did just that by bagging an assist.
Livramento; who received Newcastle’s lowest rating on FOTMOB was asked to reflect on the result by Andy Sixsmith. His answer was open and honest about the feeling around the team.
“It hurts. It was a shock, the way we lost. The dressing room wasn’t a nice place to be after but we only have ourselves to look at and blame. That was nowhere near my level.”
“We had a few days to think about it. I went home to my family and my Dad is good at opening me up and helping me talk about it.”
“We’ve come back mentally refreshed now and this weekend, the fans will see the Newcastle United they’re used to seeing.”
Livramento will be in line to play against Southampton which will not feature Newcastle-linked Tyler Dibling who is out through injury.
Eddie Howe’s take on Bournemouth loss
Howe is still yet to win against the side he took from League Two to the Premier League. After six attempts, he is still searching for his first league win against the Cherries.
After the loss, Howe admitted Newcastle’s busy schedule was a catalyst for how they played.
He said: “I don’t think we were great (against Bournemouth).
“I think we were beaten by the better team. Disappointed from the start really. I thought physically we didn’t look anywhere near our best levels.
“The game in midweek, and the run of games we had previously caught up to us today. We didn’t look like we had that pounce in our step that we normally have and we didn’t perform.”
Although the loss was a bitter pill to swallow, Newcastle are still in a good position to finish in a European spot at the end of the season.
