It seems like Nottingham Forest fans love Jack Colback in a way that we never did.

The midfielder was a controversial signing for the Magpies in 2014, arriving on a free from rivals Sunderland.

He initially impressed in black and white, enjoying a strong debut campaign. But that was as good as it got, and Colback’s dip in form coincided with Newcastle sliding out of the Premier League.

Even in the Championship, the ‘Ginger Pirlo’ wasn’t a guaranteed starter. But he hasn’t represented the club since that season, with a bust up with Rafa Benitez ending his Newcastle career.

This is now his second loan spell at the City Ground, and it’s fair to say it’s going very well.

Colback is adored at Forest, even more so after his performance on Monday night. The Reds hosted rivals Derby County, with Martin O’Neill’s side winning 1-0.

Their number six was at the heart of the action, even getting involved in a tussle between a host of Derby players. If there’s one way to endear yourself to a fan base, it’s to show blood and thunder against your biggest rivals.

Forest fans want Colback permanently

While some of the tweets are tongue in cheek, it’s clear to see how much the Forest fans love the Newcastle loanee.

He has no place at Newcastle, so it seems a no-brainer that he heads to the City Ground permanently this summer.
