After missing Saturday’s win over Fulham due to suspension, Kieran Trippier is available for the Carabao Cup quarter final clash with Chelsea on Tuesday night.
The 33-year-old was unable to feature at the weekend, with Dan Burn taking his place in the starting XI instead.
While Kieran Trippier is always a miss, Newcastle United did not feel his absence too much. Eddie Howe’s players were able to get the job done and get back to winning ways after their Champions League heartache.
Next on the agenda is the Carabao Cup, with the Magpies looking to reach the semi finals for the second season in a row. We made it all the way to final last season but were beaten, and now Eddie Howe is looking to go one further.
To do so, his side will need to get past Chelsea on Tuesday night. Therefore, it is expected that Howe will put out a strong side for the game at Stamford Bridge.
However, the club’s latest training photos cast some doubt over whether Trippier will return to the side.
No sign of Kieran Trippier in Newcastle training
The club have uploaded 22 pictures to their official website of the players training on Monday ahead of the game against Chelsea.
The likes of Lewis Miley and Bruno Guimaraes are involved, while there is no sign of Fabian Schar or Joelinton after they were forced off with injury against Fulham.
There is also no sign of Kieran Trippier, who picked up a knock of his own during the Champions League defeat to AC Milan. He was seen limping after the game, so the fact he has not been seen in training ahead of Chelsea is slightly concerning.
Hopefully it is nothing to worry about and Trippier is able to be involved, as the £12million man is a massively important player.
While he has encountered some difficult moments as of late, he is still one of the best right-backs around, and was recently described as ‘amazing’ by his former Tottenham teammate Son Heung-Min.
