Nick Woltemade and Peter Crouch finally meet in hilarious moment Newcastle United fans will love

He was the man of the hour yesterday for Newcastle United, but Nick Woltemade probably enjoyed meeting Peter Crouch more than his two goals.

After the bitter disappointment of his own goal against Sunderland last week, it’s safe to say Nick Woltemade needed a boost.

Which was better – Anthony Gordon’s cross or Nick Woltemade’s finish?!

Within the first 20 minutes against Chelsea on Saturday, he got exactly that. Woltemade added two more goals to his Newcastle United tally — he’s now got nine for the season in all competitions.

This was arguably Woltemade’s best performance for Newcastle thus far. But, after the game, he had another brilliant moment.

Nick Woltemade meets his doppelganger

Arriving to speak to TNT Sports after the match, Woltemade was visibly buzzing to meet Peter Crouch and didn’t waste the opportunity to tell the pundit and former Liverpool man how he felt.

He said: “I wanted to take a picture.” Crouch then replied: “My son. I’m just pleased to see my son doing so well.”

Woltemade has been compared to Crouch previously, due to his large, skinny frame and his fantastic footwork on the ball.

The pair took their picture, then Woltemade added: “I saw you now for the first time and my old clubs in Germany, they always used to call me Crouchy.”

Amid the laughter, Crouch then joked: “Oh mate, that’s because you’re such a good-looking boy.”

Who was Newcastle United’s MOTM against Chelsea?!

Strange to say there are a few choices given the result!

Great to see Woltemade’s confidence hasn’t been hit

After his own goal against Sunderland, it would have been easy for Woltemade to shrink and struggle with his confidence. That’s clearly not the case, though.

Woltemade was given a strong show of support in midweek against Fulham, and he repaid that love with his brace against Chelsea.

He spoke about how grateful he is for the Newcastle fans reacting in that way. You can also see in Woltemade’s goal celebration against Chelsea just how much this all means to him.

Thankfully, that Sunderland moment looks like it was just a momentary blip, and he’s now bounced back quickly.
