Nick Pope and Bruno Guimaraes both very impressed by 26-year-old Newcastle player vs Fulham

Newcastle United duo Nick Pope and Bruno Guimaraes were very impressed with how one of their teammates played against Fulham this weekend in a 3-0 win.

Sean Longstaff only recently made his return from injury against Tottenham but was thrown back into the deep end with some important minutes against AC Milan and a start against Fulham.

Longstaff took to Instagram to post a message to the Newcastle fans and both Pope and Bruno had responded to the midfielder with supportive comments of their own.

Longstaff’s return is a huge boost for Newcastle

Newcastle have been crying out for a bit of energy in the team during the last few weeks and have finally got that with the midfielder slotting back into the side for some crucial games.

He may not be the greatest player technically but he’s going to give you 100% every game and do a lot of the dirty work that other players aren’t willing to do.

His work in this team often goes underappreciated and against Fulham, Longstaff was again the heartbeat of the midfield, especially after Joelinton had gone off injured in the first half.

His teammates are also clearly happy to see him back out on the pitch with Bruno and Pope commenting heart eyes on the Newcastle man’s latest social media post.

On Instagram, Longstaff posted: “Proper response from the boys! Time to build on it starting with a big game in London next week.”

Newcastle need to get back to full fitness

Now with the team out of the Champions League, Newcastle can once again focus on doing well in their domestic competitions, starting off with Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

While Longstaff’s return is a big positive, the Magpies are still missing a number of key players, but they will first have to get through this busy Christmas period before getting some more faces back into the team.

The likes of Jacob Murphy, Harvey Barnes, Pope, Joe Willock are all big blows to the team and will be huge in the second half of the season if Eddie Howe can keep them all fit.

With Joelinton and Fabian Schar now also added to that list, Howe would do exceptionally well to keep this team in and around those European positions.
