Miguel Almiron is apparently ahead of schedule in returning from injury according to the Newcastle United manager.
This morning Eddie Howe met the press ahead of the trip to Villa Park tomorrow and during his briefing he gave an update on Miguel Almiron.
Howe told the press (via The Chronicle): “He’s done really well. He’s ahead of schedule at the moment. Fingers crossed he gets through training and he could be available very soon.”
Almiron was expected to be out for six weeks
When Almiron first picked up the thigh problem which has kept him out of the last four games, it was expected that he’d be out for six weeks, but after just four weeks, Miggy has returned to training.
It’s highly unlikely he will feature tomorrow against Aston Villa, but he could be back the following week when Tottenham come to town which would be a huge boost for Howe, especially with the fresh injury to Allan Saint-Maximin.

Saint-Maximin has returned to France to get treatment on his latest hamstring injury and today posted a video of himself out for a run, so it seems his injury was not as bad as was being reported yesterday.
Howe now has an abundance of wingers to choose from
That could meant that Howe could have Almiron and Saint-Maximin back sooner than we thought giving the gaffer a big selection headache.
Almiron is having his best season in a black and white shirt since he joined and Saint-Maximin’s last two performances were him back to his best. Jacob Murphy has made his claim for the right-wing spot since Almiron has been missing. Add to the mix the £45million signing, Anthony Gordon who is pushing for a start and youngster Elliot Anderson who is also knocking on the door, and suddenly Howe has some thinking to do.
This is the kind of problem every manager wished they had, and hopefully this same issue will apply to many more positions for Eddie Howe next season.
