Benfica’s Greek goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos is interesting Newcastle according to a report.
It alleges Newcastle want to explore a permanent deal, or a loan with the option of buying at the end of it.
Benfica have reportedly told potential suitors that a deal will cost in the region of over £13 million.

The Greek stopper kept an impressive 15 clean sheets from 34 league games, last season, conceding just 30 goals.

But surely, any Newcastle interest must be taken with a pinch of salt.
It is difficult to imagine the club paying such a steep price for someone who, in essence, would be back-up to current number one, Martin Dubravka.
Newcastle hope to agree new deals with both back-up keepers

Karl Darlow is said to be in talks about extending his deal, while Freddie Woodman is entering the last year of a deal the Magpies would like him to extend, before going on loan.

It seems Benfica may be using Newcastle as a pawn, to extract a higher price from AS Roma.
The link seems tenuous, at best, with many other priority areas in need of strengthening. So, using a large chunk of their budget on a back-up goalkeeper does not seem to make sense.
