Just over a year ago, Newcastle fans sang ‘we saw you crying on Netflix’ at the Stadium of Light.

And come April 1st, we might be seeing Sunderland tears once again.

Netflix have announced that the second series of ‘Sunderland ‘Til I Die’ will be out next month, ironically on April Fool’s Day.

The announcement came on the Netflix UK Twitter account, and Newcastle United have got involved.

Whoever runs the Twitter account for the Magpies has quoted Netflix’s Tweet with a GIF of the Longstaff brothers laughing and the message: “We’re saying nothing…”

The first series ended with the Black Cats’ relegation from the Championship, with new owner Stewart Donald replacing Ellis Short.

The final moments of the series looked as if the good times were on their way back to Sunderland, but that’s not what happened at all.

Instead, our rivals failed to win promotion from League One, losing in the playoff final to Charlton. They also lost the EFL Trophy final to Portsmouth.

Come April 1st, there’ll likely be a lot of Newcastle fans logging in to Netflix to watch their rivals suffer.

But with the Magpies’ place in the Premier League yet to be confirmed for next season and Sunderland competing for promotion themselves, the two sides could clash once again in the Championship sooner rather than later.

If we do go down, at least we won’t have to relive the horror on Netflix six months later…
