Tottenham Hotspur could win the Premier League title this season according to Newcastle striker Callum Wilson.
The new season kicks off on Friday, with Manchester City looking to defend their crown. They have massively strengthened over the summer, which is a terrifying thought.
Pep Guardiola’s side will obviously face competition from Liverpool, who ran City incredibly close last season. Those two teams are the undisputed favourites to win the league, but Wilson thinks Spurs could throw a ‘spanner in the works’.

Wilson on Tottenham winning the Premier League
Newcastle’s number nine is back for another season of the Footballer’s Football Podcast, and he discussed the title race with West Ham’s Michail Antonio.
And Wilson thinks Antonio Conte’s men will be competition for Man City and Liverpool.
“I think Liverpool this year will give City a good run for their money,” he said.
“But I can’t look past Spurs throwing a spanner in the works.
“That partnership with Kane and Son is obviously lethal. And this year with the new manager, full pre-season, added signings like they have, I think they’re definitely going to be in the mix, in and around first, second and third place.
“But City are obviously City so it’s just who has a dip and gets out of it the quickest.”

Bold prediction by Wilson
It’s a risky prediction by Wilson. But at least he didn’t tip Newcastle to finish in top spot…
Tottenham have had a wonderful summer so far, with Conte making some smart additions to his squad. The pick of the bunch is probably Richarlison, who cost £60million from Everton. They’ve also brought in Toon target Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic, Djed Spence, Clement Lenglet and Fraser Forster.
On top of that, they haven’t lost any of their star players. They still have the dynamic duo of Harry Kane and Son Heung Min.
Conte’s side finished fourth last season after a rotten start to the campaign, but are now set for their first full year with the Italian at the helm. And he knows how to win trophies.
However, Spurs do not. They haven’t won seen silverware since picking up the League Cup in 2008. Their trophy drought is nowhere near as long as Newcastle’s though, luckily for them.

It would be a real shock to see Spurs challenge for the Premier League title, mainly because of the incredible quality Man City and Liverpool possess.
But Spurs got results against both teams last season, and might just fancy their chances of an unlikely title charge.
Regardless, Wilson is seriously putting his neck on the line by backing the North London side.
The £20million striker will get to see Spurs up close in a couple of months, when Newcastle head down south to face them on October 22nd live on Sky Sports.
Will they be near the top of the table by then? Wilson will hope so, otherwise his prediction might look a bit foolish. But all Toon fans will care about is putting in a good performance and potentially nabbing a point or three.
