Bruno Guimaraes has had a 2022 to remember since joining Newcastle United, and the midfielder has now won an award for a sensational debut year in England.
The 25-year-old was nominated for the Reach Sport’s Fans’ Footballer Of The Year award earlier in the year, and it has now been announced that the Brazilian has come out on top.
Toon fans have worked their magic, handing Bruno the award ahead of the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.
Bruno, who was nominated by the Chronicle’s Lee Ryder, sits top of the tree ahead of Mohamed Salah in second and Beth Mead in third.
Newcastle’s number 39 is more than deserving of the award, and has now spoke out after receiving the honour.

Bruno Guimaraes reacts after he wins award
The January signing has taken to Twitter after coming out on top, and thanked the fans for their support.
He wrote: “Thanks to everyone who voted for me! This really have been a big year for us! Let’s keeping the job! Love for our fans.”
It is the first time that Bruno has commented on social media since Brazil’s World Cup exit. He released a lengthy statement following the penalty shootout defeat to Croatia in the quarter finals.
But now the World Cup is over, and Bruno can turn his attention back to domestic affairs. They return on Tuesday night, with Newcastle facing Bournemouth in the League Cup at St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe has confirmed that Bruno is ‘fine’ ahead of the game, having not featured in Saturday’s friendly win over Rayo Vallecano. He was never expected to play against the Spanish side, but questions were asked after Nick Pope and Kieran Trippier featured, having been eliminated from the World Cup at the same stage.
Hopefully we see him in action against the Cherries, as his presence will certainly boost our chances of making it into the next round of the competition.
2022 has been a remarkable year for Bruno. His £35million move from Lyon to Newcastle couldn’t have gone much better, with everything going right for him domestically.
It wasn’t quite as good on the international stage, with Bruno barely playing for Brazil as they slumped out of the World Cup earlier than anticipated.
While Brazil didn’t think they needed Bruno, Newcastle certainly do, and fans will be keen to welcome him back – and they will welcome him back as Reach Sport’s Fans’ Footballer Of The Year.
It is well deserved for a fantastic 2022. Now let’s hope that 2023 is even better for Bruno in black and white.
