Kyle Scott could be soon set to leave Newcastle United, with his trial at FC Cincinnati said to be going very well.

The teenager midfielder is currently on the books of the MLS club, as his contract at St. James Park runs down.

He’ll be able to leave the club for nothing this summer.

The club do actually have an option to extend his contract, but it’s explained that that is unlikely to happen.

Scott – who turned down Barcelona to join Newcastle in 2019 – has impressed during his time in the US after heading there earlier this month.

He played a big role in the recent pre-season friendly against Chicago, and was involved in the second goal in a 2-1 win.

He came in for a kind word from Cincinnati Soccer Talk for his display.

The former Chelsea youth player, who is now 23, has yet to make an appearance for Newcastle’s first-team and it seems that is unlikely to happen.

A new adventure needed

It’s good for Scott that he is making an impression over in the US.

He is definitely at an age now where he needs to be playing senior football somewhere.

It doesn’t look like he has what is required to make the grade at Newcastle and so a new adventure will be good for him.

Hopefully he can continue doing well in order to earn himself a contract.
