Allan Saint-Maximin certainly isn’t shy. That’s been clear since he arrived at St James’ Park wearing his trademark headband.
The summer signing is already a fans’ favourite, with his flicks and tricks dazzling the Toon Army. Even before he officially signed, it was clear that Saint-Maximin would excite fans.

He’s started every game since the win against Manchester United, and has often looked like the only player capable of making something happen.
His dribbling ability has caused problems in every game he’s played so far, and in an interview with the Telegraph, the 22-year-old has spoke about his talent in possession.

“As a team, we are working on how to get me on the ball higher up the pitch, how to get me one on one with a defender because if that happens, I will kill them,” the Frenchman told the Telegraph.
“They know this already. Watch now, there are two players against me, sometimes three, that makes me happy because I know there will be more space for my partners. You get me one against one, I will do a lot of damage.
“Defenders should be scared of me. I am fast and technical. They have to be careful, but it is what I have said to the manager, let them come to me, I will pass to my partners.”

It’s great to see Saint-Maximin speak so confidently about his ability. He knows he can go past players with ease and we’ve already seen him do it on multiple occasions.
The next step is creating and scoring goals. He played a key role in the winner against Manchester United, but that’s been his only real contribution.
A goal or an assist against West Ham would really back up his words.
