Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Will Hughes from Watford as they continue their search for a new midfielder.
The Magpies are currently a bit light in the centre of midfield, with Joe Willock returning to Arsenal after his loan deal.
The Chronicle claimed recently that there is confidence that Willock could return, but an offer is reportedly yet to be made.
Meanwhile, the new Premier League season draws closer. Newcastle kick off on August 15th, when they welcome West Ham to St James’ Park.

But could a Watford player be lining up for the Magpies on the opening day?
Will Hughes is reportedly within Newcastle budget
According to Sun reporter Alan Nixon, Newcastle have asked Watford about Hughes.
The 26-year-old would reportedly be within Steve Bruce’s budget, which is currently unknown.
However, the same reporter claimed in June that Newcastle would have £50million to spend, with Willock set to be a target.
It is unclear whether or not Hughes is a target instead of Willock or alongside him.
Regardless, the Watford man would be an exciting addition. While he perhaps hasn’t lived up the original hype, Hughes is a technically sound midfielder who is capable of providing a killer pass.

This isn’t actually the first time Hughes has been linked with a move to St James’ Park.
He was reportedly a target back in 2013, when he was a teenager at Derby.
Back then, the Mirror claimed Newcastle would be willing to pay £10million for his services. Will he cost that much eight years later?
