Newcastle United’s newest signing Kyle Fitzgerald has stated his ambitions for the future.
The Magpies announced the deal on Thursday, with Newcastle United signing Kyle Fitzgerald from Galway United.
It is the same move that Alex Murphy made in 2023. The Irish defender has gone on to make his Premier League debut, while Murphy is now on loan at Bolton Wanderers in League One.
Newcastle United have high hopes for Murphy, and they will be eager for Fitzgerald to follow a similar path.
Having turned 18-years-old in January, Fitzgerald is delighted to have joined Newcastle United, and has outlined his plans for the future.

Following his arrival on Tyneside, the teenage winger has spoken to Newcastle’s official website.
Fitzgerald has laid out his goals, and is already plotting his route from the academy to the first-team.
“Short-term, I want to show the academy why they signed me and try to get goals, assists and win games,” he said.
“In the long-term, it would be getting into the under-21s squad, playing well for them and showing my qualities.
“Hopefully, the gaffer can give me a chance in a few training sessions to prove myself to try and get into first-team matchday squads and, hopefully, make my debut for Newcastle United in the future.”
Path to the Newcastle United first-team is clear for Fitzgerald
Fitzgerald has made it clear that he wants to make it all the way to the first-team at Newcastle United. In truth, it would be odd if that was not his goal.
But to get there he will need to impress in the youth ranks. If he does well enough, opportunities will come his way.
There is a clear pathway for youngsters to make the grade at Newcastle United. It is actively encouraged, with Paul Mitchell eager for the club to produce more of its own stars in the era of PSR.
With Eddie Howe in charge, Newcastle United have a coach who can nurture potential. Fitzgerald will have seen Lewis Miley’s rise, while the likes of Alex Murphy and Trevan Sanusi have also made first-team debuts.
If you are good enough and apply yourself in the right way, you will get a chance. If you can earn the Newcastle United manager‘s trust, you will be afforded an opportunity.
