Tino Livramento is unlikely to start for Newcastle United against Barcelona in Tuesday’s Champions League clash.
Livramento made his return from his latest Newcastle United injury for Saturday’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester City and took part in training on Monday ahead of what is being described as the biggest game in the club’s history.
Convince me otherwise: Eddie Howe gave me my greatest day as a Newcastle fan but he has taken us as far as he can
DISCLAIMER: It's not all his fault, chaos behind the scenes and PSR does not help 😡
Never before have the Magpies been this far in the Champions League and Tuesday’s game at St James’ Park will be played in front of a red-hot atmosphere.
Livramento, however, will likely need to make do with a place on the bench.
Newcastle United confirmed team news vs Barcelona
Eddie Howe was asked about the defender during Monday’s pre-match press conference.
When asked about Livramento potentially starting, Howe said: “He probably hasn’t done enough training for me to feel 100% confident he can be in the best physical moment to start, especially in such a big game, but he’s in our squad.
“Anyone who is in that position is in contention to play so it’s a balance with Tino at the moment.”
If you could voice one concern to Eddie Howe about Newcastle United right now, what would it be?
Yes, I know we won, but let's not pretend that was great 😂
Howe also confirmed that there had been some illness in the Newcastle squad before they play Barcelona.
Still, the likes of Anthony Gordon, Joelinton, Dan Burn and Jacob Murphy all trained on Monday after recent fitness concerns.
Jacob Ramsey is available following the suspension that ruled him out of the loss to City following his red card for two bookable offences against Manchester United.

Newcastle United injuries vs Barcelona
Bruno Guimaraes is still injured for Newcastle United, and his hamstring injury is not expected to allow him to come back any time soon.
Howe has previously suggested that Emil Krafth’s season is over following knee surgery, while Fabian Schar is still injured after undergoing ankle surgery earlier this year.
Lewis Miley, meanwhile, is likely to miss the next few games with a muscle injury.
Newcastle, then, are without some key players for their biggest game of the season as they dare to dream on Europe’s grandest stage for the first real time in their history.
