While Trippier has frequently been linked with a move away from Newcastle United, the former England international continues to feature heavily under Eddie Howe.
Lewis Hall’s return from injury may impact his starting role at some point but, clearly, the first signing of the PIF era at St James’ Park is as important as ever.
Still, the 35-year-old is now into the final year of his contract. From January onwards, he could feasibly talk to foreign clubs about a move away on a free transfer next summer.
However, there may yet be a future for him on Tyneside.

The report moots the potential of a one-year extension, although those talks will not happen until later in the year.
Clubs in the Saudi Pro League, France and Turkey have all been credited with an interest.

Trippier isn’t the only decision the club need to make in terms of a new contract.
Nick Pope, Fabian Schar and Jamaal Lascelles will all see their deals expire next summer.
Pope is keen to stay at Newcastle for the rest of his career, while Schar remains one of the most important players in Howe’s squad.

Lascelles, the longest-serving player in the Newcastle United squad, is struggling for game time and looks the most likely of the lot to leave next summer.
Keeping Trippier would be wise. Even if Hall and Tino Livramento replace him in the starting lineup, the experience he brings is vital.
Hopefully, a new deal is sorted out reasonably soon.
