Newcastle United are loaning a lot of youngsters out, but some are being forced to remain on Tyneside.
In the grand scheme of things, it has been a very quiet January transfer window so far for Newcastle United. There has been a lot of noise, but nothing with real substance.
The main port of call has been loan exits, with Newcastle sending Alex Murphy to Bolton. Elsewhere, Charlie McArthur has gone to Carlisle United and Travis Hernes is playing for Aalborg in Denmark.
They will hopefully benefit from these loan moves, as they aim to enhance their careers and grow as footballers.
Newcastle United change transfer plans

However, Ben Parkinson will not get that opportunity in the second half of the season.
That is according to the Northern Echo, who report that Newcastle United have cancelled plans to loan Parkinson out due to injury.
The 19-year-old is set to be out of action until the beginning of March, which will end his hopes of playing regular senior football between now and the end of the campaign.
The Northern Echo add that Parkinson had interest from EFL clubs, after scoring eight goals in 13 games for the Under-21s this season.
Ben Parkinson was with the Newcastle United first-team last season
It is a blow for Parkinson, who has spent the entire campaign in the youth setup. This comes after he was needed at first-team level last season.
With Newcastle United enduring an injury crisis, Eddie Howe regularly included Parkinson in his squads. He was part of 14 matchday squads, but was an unused substitute on 13 occasions.
However, the attacker did make his Premier League debut. He came off the bench to lead the line as Newcastle lost to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in November.
After a tough debut, Howe praised Parkinson, saying: “Ben is a highly rated young player, he’s scored goals at various levels. Today he was there when we needed him and we trusted to bring him on the pitch. He’s athletic, he’s keen and it was a very difficult game for him to enter because at the moment we were on the ropes.”
Parkinson had the trust of the Newcastle United manager, which is difficult to earn. He has clearly improved since his time with the senior side, while he has been able to be a lot more prolific in front of goal this season.
It remains to be seen if he will make the grade at St James’ Park, but he could clearly benefit from a loan move. Sadly, injury has robbed him of that opportunity.
