The Magpies failed to find the net in their 2-0 defeat against West Ham United on Monday, only registering two shots on target from 18 attempts.
It’s a cause for concern for Toon boss Eddie Howe who enjoys playing an intense attacking style of football but following a disappointing summer transfer window, Newcastle look to be paying the price for a lack of investment in first-team players.
Goalscoring was what Newcastle were known for last season, but things seem to have taken a bad turn over the summer with Howe’s side looking poor in the attacking third.
Newcastle signed Danish forward William Osula in summer but the 20-year-old has yet to make an impact in his 10 Premier League minutes this season.
Longstanding Newcastle striker Callum Wilson made his return off the bench against West Ham on Monday, Toon fans will be hoping he can hit the ground running after a promising return to the squad.

According to data from transfermarkt, Newcastle have the joint lowest number of different goal scorers in the Premier League this season level with Everton.
Only Fabian Schar, Joelinton, Anthony Gordon, Aleksander Isak and Harvey Barnes have found the net for the Magpies this season.

Although only 12 games into this campaign, Newcastle had the highest number of different goal scorers last season with 20.

Newcastle United are also near the bottom of the table for total goals scored in the Premier League
Newcastle sit 17th in the table for total goals scored in the Premier League this season with 13 after 12 games – only Everton, Crystal Palace and Southampton have fewer.
Although Isak has found himself on the scoresheet this season he remains well off the standard he set last campaign where he netted 21 times. The Swedish international has only managed four goals so far this season.
While there is still a long way to go this season, Newcastle fans yearn for the return of their goal-scoring form from last season as they aim to climb a close Premier League table.
