Newcastle United’s injury list is growing and return dates remain unclear for the likes of Yoane Wissa.
Injuries have not been particularly kind to Newcastle United this season.
While the crisis isn’t as deep as the one that ripped through the club two seasons ago, Eddie Howe has been without some key players at a crucial time.
Wissa is the headline example of that, with the striker yet to make his debut for the club since he arrived from Brentford in September.
Still, the likes of Tino Livramento, Anthony Gordon and William Osula are also concerns on the fitness front.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Newcastle United injury news and potential return dates.

Yoane Wissa
Wissa is expected to return in November, but the exact date of his return is not yet clear.
A knee injury suffered in September has so far ruled him out of 16 games and will keep him out of Sunday’s game against former club Brentford.
According to The Daily Mail, Wissa isn’t currently injured but is still working his way back to full fitness. The club reportedly do not want to rush him back in action, such has been the length of his absence.
Potential return date: Unknown
Anthony Gordon
The winger’s strange season continued on Wednesday night. Gordon suffered a hip injury for Newcastle against Athletic Bilbao and was forced off in the one competition he’s appearing to enjoy this season.
Gordon has played well in the Champions League this season but continues to struggle in the Premier League.
It’s all made for a frustrating campaign for the England international, who now looks set for a spell out of action.
After the game, Howe said: “It seems like a recurrence of his hip injury that has been plaguing him in recent weeks, so we’ll assess that and see what damage is done.”
Potential return date: Unknown
Tino Livramento
Livramento’s knee injury has ruled him out since October but there is hope of a reasonably imminent return.
Indeed, Livramento is stepping up his return from injury, and Howe has previously suggested he could return for the home game against Manchester City after the international break.
“Tino is still on track, we are looking at the Manchester City game for him for when he can be available for,” said the Newcastle United manager.
Potential return date: Saturday, 22 November, 2025 vs Manchester City (H)
William Osula
Osula is suffering from an ankle injury and he was duly forced out of the Newcastle United squad for the Bilbao game despite being named on the bench.
It remains to be seen if the Danish international recovers in time for Sunday’s trip to Brentford. Osula has been coming off the bench for Nick Woltemade for much of the campaign, so missing him would have major implications for Howe.
After the game, Howe said of the striker: “We’ve just been in discussions with him at length about his ankle in the last few days, as to whether he’s fit enough to actually perform to the level that we need and that he’s comfortable with.
“After a discussion, we felt it was best to withdraw him and try to get his ankle 100% right.”
Potential return date: Unknown
Dan Burn
Dan Burn came off for Newcastle against Bilbao after appearing to require treatment. He did, however, seemingly leave the pitch in good spirits.
Howe will provide further updates when he speaks to the media on Friday but the early signs would suggest the defender has avoided a serious issue.
Potential return date: Sunday, 2 November, 2025 vs Brentford
