Newcastle United fans are in dreamland.
Indeed, Newcastle fans can start dreaming once more after Eddie Howe’s side booked their spot in the Carabao Cup final.
An impressive performance saw Newcastle beat Arsenal 2-0 in the semi-final second leg at St James’ Park, ultimately ensuring a 4-0 aggregate victory.
Howe’s side were absolutely brilliant and were more than good value for their victory. While whoever awaits in March’s final will be difficult to overcome, Newcastle look well-placed to avenge the defeat to Manchester United in the final back in 2023.
One of the gambles that paid off for Howe was the inclusion of Sven Botman. The Dutchman joined Fabian Schar and Dan Burn in central defence as Newcastle changed their formation for the win over Arsenal.
The former Lille defender was brilliant throughout but there a concern. Indeed, Botman came off with a knee injury against Arsenal, which will no doubt have worried some given his injury record of late.
Still, a promising update has now emerged.

Sven Botman injury update for Newcastle United
According to The Daily Mail, Botman has not suffered a serious reoccurrence of the knee injury he sustained last season.
Luckily, it seems the 25-year-old was back doing his recovery work at the Newcastle training ground following the huge victory.
The report adds that Botman may not be risked for the FA Cup game against Birmingham on Saturday but is expected to be available for selection for the trip to Manchester City in the Premier League the following weekend.
Certainly, that is brilliant news for Howe.
Sven Botman’s performance against Arsenal should excite Newcastle United fans
Botman is still making his way back up to full fitness but what he’s been able to do even while feeling his way back into regular first-team football is pretty remarkable.
The defender made the most clearances of any Newcastle player against Arsenal, as well as the most interceptions and the joint-third highest number of tackles.
| Metric | Number | Team rank |
| Clearances | 10 | 1st |
| Interceptions | 2 | 1st |
| Aerial duels won | 6 | 1st |
| Tackles | 2 | =3rd |
It surely stands to reason that things can only get better as he develops more in the way of fitness but to have returned from so long out of action with that level of performance underlines the quality of the player.
