Newcastle United fans are all saying the same thing after Kieran Trippier sent a heartfelt message on Instagram.

It’s been a joyous final day of the Premier League season for Newcastle United, though not thanks to the actual football on the pitch.

Eddie Howe’s side were terrible as they lost 1-0 to Everton at St. James’ Park, leaving several players devastated at full-time as they thought they’d missed out on a Champions League place.

But, as Harvey Barnes soon informed them, Newcastle were saved by Manchester United, who defeated Aston Villa in controversial fashion at Old Trafford.

Newcastle claimed fifth place on goal difference as a result and will return to the Champions League next season. Something Kieran Trippier is delighted about.

Kieran Trippier’s response to Champions League qualification

Taking to Instagram a few hours after the wild celebrations – which included an emotional Callum Wilson – came to an end, Trippier shared his thoughts on qualification.

He posted a series of pictures from the game with the caption: “CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!!!

“What an incredible season we have had. League Cup winners and Champions League secured for next season.

“Thank you to absolutely everyone for your amazing support this season,” concluding with a black love heart emoji.

Newcastle United fans are desperate for Kieran Trippier to stay

Newcastle fans immediately flooded the responses to Trippier’s post, begging the veteran defender to remain with the club.

“Please don’t leave,” one fan wrote, with a fingers-crossed emoji. While another added: “Stay for it Tripps, not one Newcastle supporter wants you to leave. Club legend!!”

Another supporter pleaded: “Please, please don’t leave,” while a fellow fan went into even more detail by writing: “Thank you for everything you have done for our club.

“Made a difference when you came on in the second half. We need you, please, please stay.”

“Sign the contract, your effort and charisma is what we need in our team. You are a LEGEND,” one fan replied while another implored Trippier to ‘stay’ for the Champions League campaign to come.

Trippier still has a year remaining on his contract at Newcastle but there has been a suggestion he could depart in the summer for more guaranteed minutes.

The 34-year-old full-back has played 32 times this season and was especially crucial in the Carabao Cup semi and finals, thanks to his experience and leadership. Trippier proved he is still an excellent squad player and capable cover when injuries hit.

However, he is firmly behind Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento in the full-back pecking order and won’t play much if they are both fit, which might sway him to leave in the transfer window.
