Newcastle United fans are delighted about the contract news coming out of St James’ Park.

While the one player Newcastle United fans want to see sign a new deal is Alexander Isak, one of his fellow strikers has extended his stay on Tyneside.

It has been confirmed that Sean Neave has signed a new contract, with the 18-year-old putting pen to paper over a three-year deal. Newcastle United have officially announced the deal, with Leo Shahar and Trevan Sanusi also signing new contracts.

They are all incredibly exciting talents, with Neave scoring plenty of goals at youth level. Newcastle have high hopes for Neave, who will hopefully make his senior debut very soon.

Newcastle United fans react as Sean Neave signs new deal

Eddie Howe will have visions of Neave becoming a Premier League star in black and white, with supporters extremely excited to see what the future holds for the local lad.

Following the announcement that Neave has signed a new contract, Newcastle United fans have been giving their verdict on the striker on X (formerly known as Twitter).

One supporter wrote: “He’s had plenty of exposure to the first-team. Hopefully we have a gem on our hands.”

“Great news! The days of losing our best young talent are over for NUFC,” added a second fan.

This Newcastle United supporter commented: “Hopefully the next one that makes it through the academy to getting regular game time. Seems like we are slowly starting to see results.”

“If Howe rates him that’s good enough for me,” wrote another member of the Toon Army.

“Helps fill the homegrown quota, hopefully he will push on now and try to compete for places as Miley has,” added a fifth Newcastle fan.

Finally, this supporter sent a clear message to the Newcastle hierarchy, writing: “Send him out on loan give him experience.”

What Newcastle should do with Sean Neave

Despite calls to loan Neave out, it would be wise of Howe to keep the youngster on Tyneside.

Having just turned 18, it is very early in his career to send him away from St James’ Park on a temporary basis. He will benefit more from training with the Newcastle United first-team, learning from the other attackers already at the club.

While playing senior football will aid Neave’s development, he will also grow from training alongside a world class striker in Alexander Isak. Watching him up close will have been hugely beneficial already, and that should continue to be the case next season.

Neave is yet to make his Newcastle United debut, despite being on the bench a lot last season. He has obviously caught Howe’s attention, and will get an opportunity when the right moment arrives. That could be next season, with the Magpies set to compete in four competitions.

There will be a clamour for Neave to go out on loan, as there was with Lewis Miley. However, Howe decided Miley was too young to go out on loan and be away from his family, which is the same stance the Newcastle United manager should take with Neave.
