Newcastle United fans are all saying the same thing after West Ham lose to Leicester City

Newcastle United are enduring a difficult moment, and it started with a defeat to West Ham United.

Newcastle lost their momentum after the international break, with a really underwhelming display at St James’ Park last Monday night resulting in a 2-0 defeat to West Ham.

It was a massively disappointing night. Newcastle United were the favourites against an out of form Hammers side, yet they returned to East London with the belief that things might actually be alright under Julen Lopetegui.

However, their last two results suggest that might not be the case. After West Ham beat Newcastle, they had to face title challengers Arsenal. Despite a confidence boosting win, they were humiliated at home. Lopetegui’s side lost 5-2 to the Gunners, as they easily carved open a West Ham defence that Newcastle simply could not breach.

Next on the agenda was an away trip to Leicester City, where Ruud Van Nistelrooy was taking charge of his first game. That gave the Foxes a boost, but it was still a game that West Ham should have taken points from.

Alas, they lost 3-1 to Leicester on Tuesday night.

What Newcastle United fans are saying after West Ham defeat

West Ham have not built on their win at St James’ Park, while that defeat for Newcastle United now looks even worse.

That is the view of Toon fans, who could not hide their frustration on X on Tuesday night after seeing Lopetegui’s side fall to another defeat.

“Should this Leicester vs West Ham game be annoying us?!” one fan asked on X, adding: “Just shows that we disappeared after 10 minutes last Monday, massively missed opportunity.”

In response to West Ham’s win, this fan wrote: “The same West Ham who passed us off the park at home like we didn’t even exist.”

Another Toon supporter commented: “No matter what you think of Howe or these players, that West Ham result gets worse with age. What an appalling result and performance that I feel some people didn’t really take as much notice of as they should have.”

“West Ham getting smashed by Leicester is making me more angry about our result now,” said this frustrated Newcastle fan.

A fifth member of the Toon Army posted: “Leicester comfortably dispatching West Ham. We played an hour without even having a shot. Not even a shot. Rank that like.”

Finally, this fan asked a simple question: “How on earth did we lose to West Ham?”

Inconsistent Newcastle making life hard for themselves

The past two results have really changed the mood at Newcastle United, while West Ham’s defeat on Tuesday night has made the situation even worse.

It really is baffling that Newcastle were unable to score against this West Ham side, and it pretty much summed up Eddie Howe’s attacking woes right now.

But Howe has vowed to find the solution, while everything seemed right in Newcastle’s world before the international break. Now it is the opposite after two bad results, with the Magpies’ inconsistency continuing to cost them.

The Premier League is very tight this season. Teams are struggling to put runs together, including Newcastle.

But eventually that will change, and Newcastle cannot afford to be left behind. However, that will happen if they continue to struggle against teams they should be beating – like West Ham.
