Bruno Guimaraes’ next game will be for Newcastle United.

The midfielder is currently away on international duty with Brazil, but the next time he competes will be in a Newcastle United shirt.

That is despite the fact that Brazil are in action against Argentina in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Bruno Guimaraes is suspended for that game, after picking up a yellow card in the Selecao’s 2-1 win over Colombia.

After the game, Bruno admitted that he is ‘sad’ about the suspension, as he prepares to sit out a match against Brazil’s biggest rivals.

Newcastle United fans delighted about Bruno Guimaraes news

However, the reaction has been completely different on Tyneside.

Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the news of Bruno’s suspension on X, and are delighted that the 27-year-old will be getting a rest.

One fan wrote: “Sad for Bruno but I can’t say I’m sad he’s getting a rest!”

“Bruno getting a rest is what we want,” added another supporter.

A third Newcastle fan commented: “That’s great that Bruno is out. More rest for the home stretch.”

“Not a bad thing for us though. Plenty rest before Brentford,” wrote this member of the Toon Army.

This supporter summed it up nicely, adding: “Fine by me. Our captain needs a rest!”

Finally, a sixth Newcastle United fan wrote: “The lad could do with a little break so that’s a positive to come from it with the amount of travel and playing he’s done over the last 12 months.”

Bruno Guimaraes has played so much football this season

Bruno will understandably be devastated about missing Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Argentina.

However, it is certainly a boost for Newcastle United.

The Toon skipper has played a lot of football this season, featuring in 37 of Newcastle’s 38 games. The only match he missed was the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg victory over Arsenal. That was because of suspension.

Bruno has started every Premier League game, and Eddie Howe will hope that continues to be the case between now and the end of the season.

The Magpies have 10 games remaining, as they aim to qualify for the 2025/26 Champions League. Newcastle have a game in hand, and qualification is suddenly in their hands.

But getting over the line will be extremely difficult, and Howe needs his best players firing on all cylinders for the remaining fixtures.

That includes Bruno, so this small rest should prove to be a boost.
