A punishing schedule has eased up somewhat for Newcastle United stars Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton.
Such is the quality of the Newcastle United squad, most of Eddie Howe’s players have recently been jetting around the world on international duty.
The calendar was particularly unkind to Brazilian duo Guimaraes and Joelinton.
They had to travel out to the Far East for international friendlies against South Korea and Japan before coming back to Newcastle and then setting off for the opposite end of the country for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Brighton.
To make matters worse, Joelinton and Guimaraes suffered a travel nightmare after the flight they took from Amsterdam from Seoul reportedly had to turn around because of a broken window.
Luckily for Newcastle, the midfielders will have a slightly more forgiving schedule next month.

The final international break of the year will commence for Newcastle United after their clash away at Brentford on Sunday, 9 November, 2025.
Fortunately for the pair of Brazilian midfielders, the travel involved will not be quite as arduous the next time they link up with Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Brazil have confirmed fixtures against Senegal (15 November) and Tunisia (18 November).
The Senegal game will take place at London’s Emirates Stadium, while their clash with Tunisia will be played at Lille’s Decathlon Arena.
Trips to the capital and the northern French city should come as welcome relief for Guimaraes and Joelinton given their recent journeys.
What Eddie Howe doesn’t like about international breaks
Eddie Howe has recently delivered his verdict on international breaks. For many supporters who miss the hustle and bustle of the major leagues, they are often seen as arduous occasions.
It doesn’t really feel like the Premier League gets going until the November break passes, with the next coming in March.
The Newcastle United manager was asked about how he feels about the international breaks ahead of Saturday’s clash with Brighton.
“I’d probably like to keep going and not have the stop-start nature at the start of the season,” he said.
Next year, the October international break will be a thing of the past. Instead, the September break will be extended to three weeks.
