Newcastle play their latest pre-season game on Saturday, in a hastily arranged friendly against Championship side Preston North End at Deepdale.
The club’s official Twitter account posted about tickets now being on general sale for fans wanting to travel to the game, and hinting that record signing Joelinton “could” make his debut.
As with most things the club Tweet about nowadays, there was a predictably negative response from fans, who are still angry at Mike Ashley’s running of the club.

It seems – on social media at least – a £40 million signing, and the prospect of further incomings, has done little to appease fans who are still reeling from the loss of Rafa Benitez.
With hopes of a takeover fading rapidly and the underwhelming appointment of Steve Bruce as head coach, fans are still in an unforgiving mood – and it is hard to blame them.
Whether the online anger translates to other areas of the fan-base remains to be seen, with the actual participation in rumoured boycotts and cancelling of season tickets not to be known until the opening weekend of the season.
But for now, at least, fans are not letting the club off the hook, despite using their record signing to try to lure fans into attending and increase sales.
