Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Adama Traore from Wolves this summer.

That’s according to 90min, who claim the Magpies are one of three Premier League clubs keen on the winger. The other two sides are Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United.

Traore has spent the second half of the season at Barcelona, heading to the Nou Camp on loan in January. The deal included an option to buy the Spaniard permanently for £29million.

Barca have now decided not to exercise that clause, but Wolves still plan on selling the 26-year-old. He is going into the final year of his contract at Molineux, meaning this summer is their last chance to get decent money for him.

Adama Traore is incredibly exciting and frustrating

A lot of neutrals love watching Adama Traore. He can be so exciting when he gets on the ball.

His speed is obscene, and was previously recorded as one of the fastest players in the Premier League. His top speed was 22.7mph, which was narrowly beaten by Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger.

Not only is he fast but he’s an incredible dribbler too. Adama can bulldoze past players with his physicality, making him a nightmare for defenders.

However, his end product lets him down. So often he gets into dangerous positions, only to fail with his final ball or effort on goal.

Traore is raw potential. He has everything you’d want in a winger. If you could coach him to be better on the ball then he’d be an incredible talent. But nobody has managed to do that yet.

Barcelona boss Xavi couldn’t, although Traore did enjoy a bright start back at Barcelona. He got four assists in his opening five games for the club.

However, they ended up being his only goal contributions in a red and blue shirt.

Newcastle should look elsewhere amid Adama Traore interest

Traore is another option for Newcastle, but he is one we should avoid. He simply isn’t reliable.

While Traore on one wing and Allan Saint-Maximin on the other would delight neutral fans, it would be incredibly frustrating for the Toon Army.

Howe needs someone who can be decisive in the final third. Adama has all the tools to do that but just isn’t capable sadly.

Newcastle must look elsewhere.
