Newcastle United are interested in signing a new striker this summer, and a new name on their radar is Amine Gouiri.
That’s according to The i, who claim the Magpies have sent a ‘senior member of staff’ to watch the young French forward.
Gouiri is 22-years-old and plays for Nice in Ligue 1, where he’s netted double figures in the league for the second season in a row.
He briefly played alongside Toon hero Bruno Guimaraes at Lyon, but the striker then joined Nice in the summer of 2020.

Now there’s speculation that the pair could be reunited at St James’ Park this summer.
Amine Gouiri valued at £30million amid reported Newcastle interest
The i add that Newcastle may have to pay around £30million to bring Gouiri to Tyneside.
He’s the second attacker the Magpies have been linked with from France. A fresh move for Hugo Ekitike is also being lined up. It’s reported that a transfer to St James’ Park for the teenager is ‘expected‘.
Eddie Howe could sign a player likened to Kylian Mbappe, and now he wants the new Karim Benzema. That’s who Gouiri has been compared to.
High praise indeed considering Benzema is arguably the best player on the planet right now, boasting 44 goals this season.

He’s doing that at 34, while Gouiri is still at the beginning of his career.
The France Under-21 international would certainly be an exceptional signing for Newcastle. He’d be a player for the present and the future.
He’s also been linked with Real Madrid, which highlights how talented Gouiri is.
Newcastle have sent scouts to watch him, and hopefully they were impressed enough to convince the club to make a bid.
