Newcastle United will likely have to pay big money to sign Moussa Diaby this summer.
The Frenchman was linked with the Magpies in January. Now those rumours have intensified heading into the upcoming transfer window.
Diaby is a serious target for the Toon, with the Northern Echo recently claiming that Newcastle are confident of signing him.
Landing the Bayer Leverkusen winger would be a huge deal, and another statement of intent.

He could possibly end up being Newcastle’s record signing if a deal is done. Leverkusen are surely set to command a huge fee.
CIES give Moussa Diaby a huge transfer value
The price Newcastle must pay remains to be seen, but CIES Football Observatory have given an indication on how much he might cost.
The football research group have released their latest list of the 100 most valuable players in the game today. And it includes Diaby.
Kylian Mbappe, who Diaby knows well, sits top of the pile with a value of £176million. He’s closely followed by Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.

Scroll down to number 58 and you’ll find the man Eddie Howe wants to bring to St James’ Park. CIES believe Diaby is worth €65.8million, which is equal to £56.2million.
Their values are based on multiple variables. They include a player’s age, his current contract, how well he’s performed, how valuable a club they play for and the rate of inflation.
When you consider those variables, it’s no wonder Diaby is valued so highly. He’s still young at 22, and has a contract at Leverkusen until 2025. He’s had an excellent season, recording 25 goal contributions in the Bundesliga, and that helped his side qualify for next season’s Champions League.
If Newcastle really want to sign Diaby this summer then they’re going to have to dig deep into their wallets. Luckily, the new owners are incredibly wealthy. But with financial fair play limitations, the club will need to decide whether or not he’s worth such a huge investment.
