There were a few Newcastle United representatives on international duty last night, one player being Martin Dubravka – who kept a clean sheet Slovakia.
The 32-year-old featured in their final World Cup qualifier against Malta.
The former Sparta Prague star was making his first appearance of the season between the sticks.
He started 2021/22 on the sidelines, after undergoing foot surgery after Euro 2020.
He was forced to miss the first three months of the season, finally returning to the bench against Chelsea at the end of October.
Despite being available against both Chelsea and Brighton, he hasn’t yet featured for the Magpies.
Interim boss Graeme Jones decided to stick with Karl Darlow on both occasions.

Interestingly, Dubravka managed to do something last night that Darlow hasn’t all season – keep a clean sheet.
Slovakia ran out 6-0 winners, in what was a dead-rubber game.
In truth, Dubravka won’t have many easier games in his career.
It was a dominant display from the visitors, with Dubravka rarely called into action.
Fans demand Dubravka starts against Brentford after Slovakia clean sheet
On social media, Newcastle tweeted out news of Dubravka getting a clean sheet for his country.
While he didn’t have to do much, the information was enough for some fans to call for him to start against Brentford.

Darlow has had an inconsistent start to the new season.
The fact Newcastle have not kept a single clean sheet in the league is definitely a worry.
