Newcastle United have endured an awful start to the new Premier League season – but at least Allan Saint-Maximin is in good form.
The French winger has been extremely lively across the first six games.

So far, he has two goals and three assists to his name in the competition.
Everybody knows how important he is, and it seems Newcastle are going to need him right at the top of his game to pull away from trouble this term.
One of the best things about Saint-Maximin’s game, of course, is his dribbling ability.
At times he is absolutely exhilarating to watch. Arguably, even he doesn’t know what he is going to do sometimes.
One thing is for sure – he is always direct.

According to FBref statistics, Saint-Maximin is currently leading for most carries into the final third, and by some distance.
He’s made 29 so far, meaning an average of 4.8 per game.
In joint-second place and considerably further back, are England trio Jack Grealish, Declan Rice and Luke Shaw, all on 20.
When you think about how Newcastle are not the most attacking of teams as a collective, it really is impressive going.
It showcases a willingness to take matters into his own hands and drive the team forwards.
Saint-Maximin the driving force
Newcastle need Saint-Maximin to keep doing what he is doing.

No one else is capable of taking the ball from those deeper positions and getting the team into a threatening position.
Once Callum Wilson returns from injury, that will hopefully see some of Saint-Maximin’s mazy runs result in more goals.
