The Premier League season has come to a close and if one man has earned his rest it’s Bruno Guimaraes who has been playing through the pain for Newcastle United for a while now.

Now that there are no more games for Newcastle on the horizon, Bruno Guimaraes has taken to Instagram to reveal just how difficult this season has been for him mentally and physically.

We knew that Bruno had been playing with an injured ankle for a few weeks, but we didn’t really know the extent of the injuries. Now the £40million signing from Lyon has shown photos of the bruising on Instagram with a lengthy caption reflecting on the difficulties this season has posed.

Bruno signed off the season with an honest assessment

His caption read: “Pain, blows, injuries and mental fatigue. This may have been my most physically and mentally demanding season! I’ve gone through a lot of adversity and learned to know my body in a way that I had not yet understood! Facing many battles with myself and my head about want and power! Thank God today I can say everything went well. A season of much learning and knowledge closes for a new cycle that is about to begin. Accomplished by going over all barriers and most importantly with duty accomplished! This is so priceless! Let’s go forward and soon more challenges ahead”

We never knew about the pain behind that trademark smile.

Bruno is going to be instrumental for Newcastle in the Champions League

It’s typical Bruno to be so open and honest with what he’s been through while at the same time projecting an air of confidence and self-belief.

He has barely had time to put his iced-up ankle into an elevated position and he’s already looking forward to next season.

Bruno is going to be massive for Newcastle next year. He got his dream of getting the Magpies into the Champions League, now he’s got to lead that team into the belly of the beast and if there’s anyone who will be up for that challenge, it’s Bruno.
