Newcastle staff think they could be in big trouble if 25-year-old gets injured

Newcastle United are certainly not a one man team, but if there is one player they cannot do without it is Bruno Guimaraes.

The 25-year-old missed six Premier League games out of 38 last season. Incredibly, Newcastle did not win a single game out of the six he was unavailable for.

Bruno is a pivotal player at St James’ Park, and is the man who makes our midfield tick. While Eddie Howe has plenty of options in the middle of the park, the only true guaranteed starter is Bruno. The likes of Joe Willock, Joelinton, Sean Longstaff, Elliot Anderson and Lewis Miley are merely competing for the honour of playing alongside him.

The Brazilian has been a transformative signing on Tyneside, and the club staff are well aware of just how important he is to Howe’s side.

According to the Athletic, Newcastle know that they would be in trouble if Bruno was ruled out of action due to injury.

They have spoke to a senior figure within the club who told them: “We have great players in midfield but if Bruno got injured we would be lost.”

We are not reliant on Bruno for goals or assists, but he is the man who makes us tick in the middle of the park. He takes the ball under pressure, dictates the play and progresses our game through the thirds.

While Joelinton is powerful, Willock is athletic and Longstaff is energetic, none of them are able to do what Bruno does in front of the defence. That is why Toon staff believe that we would be in trouble if he were to suffer an injury.

That is certainly a major concern, but one that might subside following the arrival of Sandro Tonali. He will hopefully relieve some of the pressure, and mean Newcastle have a way to win if Bruno is unavailable.

The Italian has officially been announced as the Magpies’ latest signing, and it is going to be very exciting watching him play alongside Bruno in a black and white shirt.

In an ideal world, Bruno will be fit all season, but you never know what could happen. That is why Howe is desperate for a stronger squad, and it has already improved following the arrival of Tonali.
