Newcastle United have now officially appointed Eddie Howe as their new manager, and him being ‘specific’ and ‘tailored’ was apparently a big reason for him getting the nod.
The announcement came earlier today, after the 43-year-old had attended the Magpies’ Premier League clash with Brighton on Saturday night.
The hard work starts now for Howe, who is back in football after 18 months away from the game.
He will be champing at the bit, and there is no denying it is a huge job for him.
According to the Telegraph, Howe wowed the new owners in his interview for the job.
He impressed all members of the consortium, including chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan.
It’s claimed Howe was ‘superb’, and the Telegraph have today published some exciting quotes from a ‘senior’ source.
They said: “It was the best interview by far. He had prepared meticulously, he knew the Newcastle players, what they were good at and where they needed to improve.
“Eddie has studied the squad and done his research. He was fully prepared for every question and answered everything thrown at him.
“He also knew about the club, the fans and what is expected of a Newcastle manager if they are going to succeed here.
“Where other candidates talked in general about their principles, methods and philosophies, Eddie Howe was specific and tailored everything to what he would inherit at Newcastle.”
Very exciting quotes
These are certainly some very reassuring quotes.
Some people really wanted Unai Emery or Paulo Fonseca, but Howe is clearly a brilliant candidate and is ready to get to work.

Hopefully everyone will now get behind him, as he tries to improve a crop of players that are in woeful form.
There will undoubtedly be bumps in the road, and there are some difficult games coming up, but Howe will throw everything at the task.
It’s very encouraging that he had done so much preparation for his interview.
It is also very good that he was being specific and not general. It shows he is really keen, and really ready.
