Jayden Bogle was a revelation in the Championship last season, and he’s the kind of player Newcastle United should be signing.

The young right-back broke into Frank Lampard’s Derby County team, narrowly missing out on promotion after losing to Aston Villa in the playoff final.

But Bogle was massively impressive throughout the season for his age, showing that he has the potential to play in the Premier League.

He’s certainly a bit rough around the edges, as seen by his loss of concentration to allow Villa to go ahead at Wembley, but he has all the tools to be a top player. Bogle’s pace and ability on the ball make him a great modern day defender. The more experience he gets and the better players he comes up against, the more solid he’ll become.

He could do that at Newcastle.

No matter who the owner is, Bogle would be a good signing

Newcastle’s two right-backs currently are DeAndre Yedlin and Javi Manquillo. Both players are fairly average and have flaws to their game.

Yedlin’s pace gives him an advantage as he can get up and down the flank, but the American had a really tough season that saw him receive a lot of flack from supporters.

It’s obvious that Newcastle need more quality at fullback, and Bogle could bring that for years to come. He has the potential to surpass Yedlin and Manquillo with ease.

Whether Mike Ashley remains in charge and we’re looking at young players who could have a high sell on value, or we have a new flash owner who is willing to pump money into the club, the 18-year-old is still a player who should be considered.

Of course, that won’t happen until the management and ownership saga comes to an end, whenever that may be…
