Callum Wilson is back doing what he does best and Newcastle need him to keep banging in the goals. But most importantly he needs to stay fit for the remainder of the campaign.
During Wilson’s injury absence, we saw Allan Saint-Maximin play up front on his own. Joelinton has proven that he’s better out wide, while Dwight Gayle no longer seems cut out for Premier League football.
But when the new owners eventually name the new manager, as well as resolving the league’s second leakiest defence, signing another striker to cover or possibly even partner Wilson is probably going to be high on their priority list.
One player who could be available for a cut-price fee in January is Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah. The forward is out of contract in July.
Nketiah would add firepower

Despite not playing a minute of Premier League football so far this season, Nketiah has two goals in two Carabao Cup games following his strike against Leeds last night.
The £45,000-a-week forward doesn’t look likely to sign a new deal which means Arsenal’s bargaining power is significantly reduced.
Letting a talent Mikel Arteta claimed, via the Mirror last year, has an ‘incredible’ maturity and personality out the door cheaply would be very much Arsenal’s loss and Newcastle’s gain.
Nketiah is England Under-21s all-time top goalscorer and he will be desperate to make an impression in the Premier League.

If and when Wilson’s injury woes do resurface, we need a natural goal scorer to take the mantle in the former Bournemouth man’s absence.
Nketiah is more than capable of leading the line for Newcastle and if the new manager wants to play with two strikers upfront, the young Gunners star could strike up a good partnership with Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin.
The arrival of Nketiah at St James’ Park could also help to reignite the form of his former Arsenal academy teammate Joe Willock.
Nketiah would bring an injection of goals to Newcastle and that’s something the current team very much needs.
