Reporter states the representatives of Jesse Lingard were at Newcastle vs Tottenham

St James’ Park was full to the brim as Newcastle failed to beat Tottenham yesterday.

It was the start of a new era for the Magpies, with thousands of supporters showing up to show their appreciation for the new owners and, more importantly, toast the departure of Mike Ashley.

There were also big names in attendance, with Amanda Staveley, Mehrdad Ghodoussi, Jamie Reuben and Yasir Al-Rumayyan witnessing their first Newcastle game as owners of the club.

Former players such as David Ginola, Keith Gillespie and Rob Lee were there. Even Ant and Dec were in the house.

Now Sky Sports have reported on another interesting spectator.

According to Pete Graves, Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard’s representatives were there, ‘keeping an eye on developments’ at Newcastle.

Jesse Lingard would be an incredible signing for Newcastle

It’s interesting to see players’ representatives already heading to St James’ Park ahead of the January transfer window.

Lingard has already been linked with a move to Newcastle United. The Telegraph stated last week that a move for the England international has been discussed.

The 28-year-old is back at Manchester United after a fantastic loan spell at West Ham, and actually scored against Newcastle this season.

However, he isn’t getting that much football at Old Trafford. That’s probably why his representatives are keeping an eye on developments elsewhere.

Lingard would be a fantastic signing in January. He would walk into our starting XI, and would be a biggish name to kick off the new era at the club.

We need reinforcements, but we aren’t going to be able to sign mega names straight away.

But getting someone like Lingard would be a real coup. Hopefully his representatives report back to the midfielder on the incredible atmosphere they witnessed, but maybe don’t mention the quality of football!
