What a week it’s been for Newcastle. After confirming the arrivals of Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis, there has now been an update on the proposed takeover.
The club’s official statement reveals that the Premier League has rejected a bid from PCP Capital Partners, the Reuben Brothers and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. The Premier League have based their decision on their Owners and Directors test.
However, it doesn’t end there. The statement continues to say that the club do not accept this outcome, and will be considering their options. The Guardian reports that legal advice is now being taken.
It seems that this has gone down well with the Toon Army on Twitter. Amazingly, it even seems to have sparked the impossible happening – fans taking Ashley’s side!
In fairness to him, the retail tycoon has backed Steve Bruce sufficiently in this window, and does seem keen to ensure this takeover goes through.
Given the years of ‘Ashley Out’ banners and general hatred towards him, it does feel very strange to see him being supported so passionately. This is 2020 after all. Strange things have been happening all year!
Let’s see what the Toon Army have been saying amidst this interesting situation…
I’m actually supporting Mike Ashley 🥴

2020 the year in which Ashley could cement himself as an NUFC hero if he gets this takeover through. This world we live in is bizarre.
