Newcastle United are now prepared to offer contracts to two players who have been key to some big results this season.
Following the news that Fabian Schar has signed a one-year extension, the club are looking to tie more of their top players down for the future.
According to a report from the i, both Sven Botman and Lewis Miley are now in line to be offered new deals by the club.
Botman and Miley have been top players for Newcastle
Botman was top class last season for Newcastle, one of the best defenders in the Premier League for the whole campaign, and he was unlucky to pick up a big injury earlier this season which kept him out for three months.
Coming back into the side at the end of the 2023, the Dutchman has brought an air of confidence back in to the team and amongst the fanbase who were appreciative of Jamaal Lascelles‘ efforts who stood in, but are happy to see the ‘brilliant‘ Botman back in defence.
Opposingly, Miley has been the surprise package of the season with an unexpected key role to play for the team because of the sheer number of absences Newcastle have had in midfield.
Sandro Tonali, Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff and Joelinton have all been missing from the team at times so Miley has really had to step up in a number of games, and he’s rarely looked out of place.

Newcastle are looking like a top club off the pitch
Regardless of the fact that Newcastle had lost seven of their last eight games prior to the 3-0 victory over Sunderland in the FA Cup, things have been going well for Newcastle off the pitch.
At least from the outside looking in, the Magpies look to be a well run club with a clear plan in place and a lot of faith in the current manager to take this squad to the next level with hopefully what is significant investment in the summer.
Tying both Botman and Miley down for the long-term future is just yet another sign that the club is headed in the right direction and that Newcastle are no longer viewed as a stepping stone to get to a big club.
