Newcastle United are now understood to be interested in RB Salzburg defender after sending scouts to a number of his games this season.
There are a number of areas that Newcastle would like to improve in during the next couple of windows to help the team to compete with the very best of the Premier League.
A new report from SunSport now links Newcastle with Salzburg’s Amar Dedic, but they will face stiff competition from a number of big European clubs.
Newcastle could sign Dedic to compete with Trippier
Though a new right-back may not seem like the biggest priority for Newcastle right now, Kieran Trippier won’t be able to play forever and is already entering the twilight of his career at 33-years-old.
The signing of Tino Livramento was to secure a replacement for the experienced defender, though the former Chelsea and Southampton man has largely been playing at left-back in recent weeks.
Emil Krafth is also not a long-term solution down the right flank, so a new signing in that position could very well be targeted in the summer if not in January.
The report from the Sun claims that Newcastle had sent scouts to watch over Dedic in his three final Champions League games in which they picked up just one point.

Jose Mourinho desperately wants Dedic
If the stats don’t suggest to supporters that Dedic could be the right man for Newcastle then the fact that he is wanted by Jose Mourinho, one of the most successful managers of this generation, certainly should.
Roma, alongside Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona and Inter Milan are also keeping a close eye on the Bosnian defender who shares the same agent as Joelinton which could prove to be useful in negotiations.
His versatility to play as either a left-back, right-back or central defender is a hugely attractive part of his game, and should Newcastle decide not to sign Lewis Hall in the summer then Dedic could become the ideal candidate for the Magpies.
