The term ‘cans’ will need little contextualising for Newcastle United supporters.
Tweeted often while the world awaited the protracted takeover that finally changed the landscape for Newcastle in October 2021, it is something Newcastle fans far and wide are aware of.
Which is why it’s brilliant to see the owners getting involved.

Those in charge of the club are not simply popular because they spend money. They have engaged with a fanbase so often left to sit and stew over the villainous decisions made by the villainous Mike Ashley, opening up lines of communication that appeared to be defunct under the Sports Direct mogul.
Indeed, spending money is one thing. Spending it wisely is another. Doing both while being accessible and relatable to supporters is even better.
Mehrdad Ghodoussi’s brilliant message to Jamie Reuben

The club are in the ascendancy right now. Perhaps in a few years’ time, the levels of expectation will grow and we’ll see less of this kind of thing but, for now, the journey towards that point is absolutely thrilling to watch.
The takeover, frankly, could not have gone better.
Revitalised off the pitch just as much as they are on it, this is a different Newcastle United these days.
