For a team who had previously struggled for goals, it’s delightful to see Newcastle United’s forwards back amongst them.
Both Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak scored against West Ham on Wednesday, while Joelinton has also been involved.
Still missing Miguel Almiron due to injury, the rest of the frontline have certainly stepped up of late. Eddie Howe’s side have scored twice or more in each of their last five Premier League games as they tighten their grip on Champions League qualification.

For much of the season, it has been either Wilson or Isak for Newcastle. Throughout his time in charge, Howe has largely adopted a 4-3-3 system and the club’s staff are thought to view Isak’s best position as through the middle.
Naturally, that has limited the opportunities of seeing them play together.
Still, perhaps it’s something we might see going forward.
Eddie Howe hints at tactical change
Wilson teed up Isak for his excellent winner at Brentford on Saturday as Newcastle completed their comeback in west London to make it an excellent week in the capital.
Speaking to BBC Match of the Day afterwards, Howe said: “I think they [Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak] can play together in the right circumstances for the team.
“We don’t want to force it and the team suffers, we want it to be to the benefit of the team. Today was the right time and they caused them no end of problems.”

Newcastle’s forwards showing up just at the right time
After losing to Liverpool and both Manchester clubs between February and March, you could have been forgiven in thinking Newcastle had simply run out of steam.
Still, this team – particularly the forwards – have proven relentless yet again. To have stepped up and got back amongst the goals speaks to a group of players able to raise their level again, boasting the mental fortitude to improve from within.
Newcastle won’t go quietly and, with Isak and Wilson already combining for two Premier League goals during their limited time together, now have another string to their bow.
