Newcastle United loanee Joe White has made his league debut for League Two side Hartlepool United. The 19-year-old provided an assist in a 3-1 for the Pools against Barrow.

Barrow took the lead, but White’s reverse pass to Luke Molyneux brought them back level. Ex-Toon full-back Jamie Sterry provided an assist for the second as he played a pass to Molyneux who struck it beautifully from outside the box. They added a third before half-time through Omar Bogle.

White was subbed off in the 82nd minute for Mark Shelton. The midfielder joined the League Two side on deadline day and the loan will last until the end of the season.

White is a promising prospect from the youth academy, hopefully he can take the next big step

Along with Elliot Anderson (currently on loan at Bristol Rovers), White has been identified as one of the exciting youth prospects. The duo have made appearances in the matchday squads for Premier League and FA Cup matches.

The 19-year-old hasn’t played for the first team as of yet but an impressive loan spell away could change that. His first appearance for Hartlepool came against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup. They were beaten 2-0, White came on in the 60th minute as a substitute.

It was always going to be a challenge against a Premier League side, but White proved himself last night. It will be a big confidence boost to provide an assist on your league debut.

He and some Newcastle fans are hoping this is the start of an exciting spell. At such a young age, a few promising loan moves across the Football League could prepare him for the Newcastle squad.

It’s early days for young Joe White, but it’s a promising start. An assist on his league debut will be a big boost for him. With a lot of potential, hopefully, this loan spell away in League Two will help develop his game.
