Newcastle United have added a number of youth players to their ranks this summer.
As reported by Chronicle Live, Newcastle have recently brought three new players into the academy set up at St James’ Park.
14-year-old pair Michael Mills and Sam Alabi will join up with the under-16s this season. Mills is a winger the club have signed from Port Vale, whilst midfielder Alabi has been prised away from Oldham.
Meanwhile, Kacey Wooster has been snapped up from Southend United. The 16-year-old striker also attracted the attention of other top Premier League clubs, but will now join up with the under-18 group on Tyneside.
Newcastle have further targets they want to bring in at youth level in this transfer window. This level of investment in the academy squads shows that Amanda Staveley and rest of the Newcastle hierarchy are serious about building a dynasty of success at the club. This was an area of club that never received the levels of investment required during the Mike Ashley years.
There are plenty of decisions being made at Newcastle with long-term aims in mind, as well attempts to achieve success in the immediate future.

Newcastle laying foundations for success
In Eddie Howe they also have a manager willing to give youthful prospects a chance to make the step up to first team level. Having impressed in pre-season, Elliot Anderson now seems to be on the verge of making himself a starter in the Premier League.
The likes of Lewis Miley and Alex Murphy will likely get an opportunity at some point during the campaign, too.
Whilst Newcastle are in a position of greater spending power than they’ve ever enjoyed before, they do have to be mindful of other factors, such as Financial Fair Play regulations. Adding to their squad and generating depth with talented youngsters is a smart way to help the club maintain its progress. Clearly, that is what the club is working towards.
