When Newcastle United send players out on loan, they want them to gain more experience and enjoy their football.
That is exactly what didn’t happen with Garang Kuol at Hearts last season, but it is exactly what is happening with Joe White right now.
The Newcastle midfielder signed for Crewe Alexandra on loan until January during the summer transfer window, after spending the second half of last season in League One with Exeter City.
Now White has dropped down to League Two, and he is enjoying his football. He has become a regular for Crewe, making 15 appearances in all competitions. He is a regular starter in the league too, helping Crewe up to fifth in the table.
And with his loan spell only running until January, the Railwaymen are hoping agree a deal with Newcastle to keep him at Gresty Road for a bit longer.
Crewe manager wants to keep Newcastle youngster
That is according to Crewe manager Lee Bell, who has spoke to their official website about White’s progress and wanting to extend his loan deal.
“Newcastle have been brilliant with us and we have spoken to them and Joe in the last couple of weeks,” he said.
“We’ve given them some really positive feedback and hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will have some good news.”

Newcastle should extend Joe White’s loan
Given how well he is doing, it would be wise to extend his loan spell. He is getting consistent minutes in his preferred position, which is exactly what he needs at this stage in his career.
The fact that he is in League Two is irrelevant. Playing at a much lower level did not hurt Elliot Anderson, who did so well for Bristol Rovers when they were in the fourth tier of English football.
He has since gone on to become a first-team player for Eddie Howe, which is exactly what White will want to do.
The 21-year-old has a contract with the Magpies until 2025, and will surely be eager to extend his stay and play a part in this exciting journey that Newcastle United are on.
But with so much talent at the club already and more likely to arrive in 2024, White will know that he really needs to standout if he is going to get a chance in the senior side next year.
