Sorensen is enjoying a fantastic season for Newcastle United U23s, scoring 15 goals in all competitions so far. It’s form that will probably see him become a loan target for several lower league clubs in January.

He has shown in recent Checkatrade Trophy performances that he could certainly handle lower tier football.

The youngster scored goals against League Two sides Grimsby Town and Notts County in the group stages. But perhaps even more impressively, he also managed to find the net against League One side Doncaster Rovers.

Hartlepool are currently competing in the fifth tier of English football and are desperate to strengthen their squad in the hope of making Football League play-offs.

But Newcastle supporters have already expressed concern about their interest in Sorensen.

It seems most fans are unsure whether National League football would improve the teenager.
