While takeover talk has dominated the Newcastle United newsfeeds all week, with the club maintaining their silence on the issue, fans have been unsure whether to be excited or sceptical.

The result has been an anxious week of uncertainty.

True to the renowned Geordie humour though, when Rafa popped up on Twitter yesterday in Madrid, providing commercial duties for a hotel-booking website ahead of the Champion’s League final, fans were quick to create #RafasHotel.

The result saw the hashtag trending inside the top 15 of the UK’s most used thread topics on Twitter, following in the footsteps of the previous, but equally hilarious, #ColosParty and #YedlinsTeaParty threads.

Newcastle fans made their own distraction from takeover talk on Twitter

Here are a selection of our favourites, but we urge you to go and check #RafasHotel out for yourselves, you will not be disappointed.
